Holiday Stress And Dogs

The most wonderful time of the year is winding down, and we hope you've enjoyed connecting with family and friends. For many people, being surrounded by people we love is the best way to relax, shake off end-of-the-year stress, and get ready for the start of a new year.

Some of us need to recharge our batteries after a lot of social interaction by taking some time to be alone in a quiet place, and that's totally OK!

Many of our dogs also need time away from the hustle and b...ustle to recharge their "good dog batteries."  Take them for a walk, and let them sniff around as much as they want. Or, crawl into bed together and take a nap. What you do isn't as important as making the time to give your dog the attention (s)he needs to recover from holiday stress.

If your dog has had a hard time coping with the disruption to his daily routine, extra people staying in the house, and decorations making their home look and smell like a strange place, read the following article for some tips on how to calm his anxiety. https://www.petmd.com/…/evr_dg_how-to-calm-down-an-anxious-…

If your dog needs a higher level of mental health help, email us at solutions@vindicatedrescue.org, and we will help you devise a plan to get him the treatment he needs.

And if you need a place to talk about your dog with other owners who "get it", join our Facebook group Behavior Support by VCS.
